Police Officer Declared Missing Last Week Found Dead Under Mysterious Circumstances In Festac Town, Lagos

A serving police inspector, Bishop Clement, who was declared missing last week by his family, has been found dead under troubling circumstances in Festac Town, Lagos State.

Clement’s lifeless body was discovered near the Second Rainbow area of Festac, days after a police wireless message was circulated across various divisions and formations in Lagos, seeking information on his whereabouts.

The late officer, identified by service number AP/No. 352498, was last seen on April 23, 2025, when he left for work but failed to return home. His unexplained disappearance had sparked concern within the police community and the public, especially after his wife filed a missing person’s report.

According to a police signal signed by the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration (COMPOL DFA), Ikeja, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Area ‘B’ Command, Apapa, the distress alert was triggered after all attempts to reach the officer via phone proved unsuccessful.

The internal memo, referenced AB: 2680/LS/AP/VOL.1/146, read in part:

“Be informed that on 23/04/2025 at about 1500HRS, information was received from the wife of AP/NO. 352498 Inspector Bishop Clement ‘M’, that her husband had not returned home since he left for work and his mobile numbers 08062389359 and 08058981999 have remained unreachable.”

The message had called for urgent assistance in circulating information about the missing officer to all formations for any leads that could help locate him.

Sadly, the search ended in tragedy with the discovery of his corpse, though the police have not yet disclosed the cause of death. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing.

The discovery has left residents of Festac Town in shock and mourning, especially colleagues and neighbours who described Clement as a disciplined and dedicated officer.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether foul play is suspected, but a formal statement from the Lagos State Police Command is expected in the coming days.
