FG Begins Payment Of ₦44,000 Minimum Wage Arrears To Former NYSC Members

The Federal Government has commenced the long-awaited payment of ₦44,000 in minimum wage arrears to former members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), fulfilling a pledge made during the recent upward review of corps members’ allowances.

The payment is targeted at ex-corps members who completed their national service before the new monthly allowance of ₦77,000 came into effect earlier this year. Previously, corps members received ₦33,000 monthly.

The move has sparked widespread excitement on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter), where beneficiaries have confirmed receipt of the payment and expressed their appreciation.

One user, @Kingpin_black1, wrote: “Thank you NYSC. Thank you President Tinubu. Nigeria will be great again.”

Another, @pharmacist_shezzy, tweeted: “44k don land. NYSC no carry last. God bless Nigeria.”

@ifeoluwa_X added: “Just got my alert. I almost deleted my NYSC account. Thank you FG.”

The disbursement has been widely hailed as a sign of the government’s renewed commitment to accountability and its willingness to honour promises made to Nigerian youth.
