“Alleged Child Abuse” — Lagos Civil Servant Charles Ogunyinka Arraigned For Indecent Touching Of 3-Year-Old Daughter

The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a 44-year-old civil servant, Charles Ogunyinka, before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly indecently touching his three-year-old daughter.

The incident reportedly took place in January 2025 at the defendant’s residence located at No. 13 Popoola Arandun Street, Abaranje, Ikotun area of Lagos.

According to the prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, the defendant’s wife had left their daughter in his care while she stepped out. Upon her return, she found the child crying.

When questioned, the toddler pointed to her private parts and mentioned her father, prompting the mother to alert the authorities, leading to Ogunyinka’s arrest.

Ogunyinka pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of indecent touching of a minor, an offence which violates Section 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Presiding over the matter, Chief Magistrate O. O. Kushanu granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦250,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned to September 11, 2025, for mention.
